Splendido Partners with Primavera Foundation for Health Based Initiatives

Oro Valley Retirement Community and Human Rights Charity Help Tucson Age Well

TUCSON, Ariz. (September 2, 2008) – Splendido, a resort-style retirement community in Oro Valley, Ariz. and the Primavera Foundation, a non-profit organization in Tucson that promotes economic and social justice, have formed a partnership to fight homelessness and poverty in southern Arizona.  Throughout 2008 and into 2009, both organizations will support each other’s missions to advocate for Tucson’s less fortunate and help people Age Well.

“The Primavera Foundation is such a valued and longstanding organization in Arizona, and we are ready to contribute to their cause and help fight poverty in Tucson,” said Mark Blazer, executive director of Splendido.

The partnership’s first initiative is a health drive at Sonora, Splendido’s new on-campus health center, which is located at 13500 N. Rancho Vistoso Boulevard in Oro Valley. On September 6, 2008, from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m., the public can donate health-related items that the Foundation urgently needs to make a difference in the lives of thousands of Tucson’s poorest community members.  A list of suggested items can be found at: www.primavera.org/donation_inkindlist.php.

“Our affiliation with Splendido will help promote the mission of the Primavera Foundation in Oro Valley and the northwest portion of Pima County,” said Peggy Hutchison, executive director of the Primavera Foundation. “Splendido’s community awareness and progressive wellness practices are an important investment in our community.”

Future charitable events are currently being planned by Splendido and the Primavera Foundation to benefit the Tucson community. Both organizations are inviting the community to help them achieve their goals of Aging Well and helping people transition from poverty to greater well-being and security.

“This is a great opportunity.” said Hutchison. “Two organizations can combine their assets for the greater good of our entire community.”
