Splendido Awarded Midsize Business Pinnacle Award and Shines as a Model for Retirement Living

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

Tucson, Ariz. (August 25, 2013) – Splendido, an industry-leading continuing care retirement community in Tucson, was awarded the Midsize Business Pinnacle Award on Thursday, Aug. 15 for its community-oriented contributions in making the Greater Oro Valley a better place to live.

At a commemorative breakfast hosted by the Greater Oro Valley Chamber of Commerce, attendees celebrated the 17 nominated businesses and organizations for their achievements and local impact in Oro Valley. Awards were given under the Large, Midsize, and Small Business categories and presented by guest speaker U.S. Sen. Jeff Flake and the Chamber’s president and CEO, Dave Perry.

Splendido has earned more than 15 awards since 2006 including Gold Awards for best overall and best active adult community by the National Active Retirement Association.  As one of the largest employers in Oro Valley, it is a “quiet economic force” whose residents and employees are active in local philanthropy and helping those in need. “Splendido has been a consistent supporter, financially, with participation, and with positive thoughts, words and deeds,” Perry remarked. Other nominees in the Midsize Business category included Rosemont Copper, a copper mining project that creates jobs in Southern Arizona, and The Quality Inn & Suites, which underwent an expensive makeover.

“Since we opened our doors in 2006, Splendido has grown into a community of more than 300 residents and more than 160 dedicated employees, and we’re proud to have made a positive impact on Oro Valley not only as a wonderful place to retire, but as an employer as well,” said Tom Rios, Experience Director of Splendido.

Splendido’s resort-style living offers a wide variety of programs and amenities for residents, including a 10,000-square-foot fitness center and spa with two saline swimming pools, a movie theater, an arts studio, and an 18-hole putting course. If health care needs arise, there is access to on-site health care at Sonora, a comprehensive health center which provides a range of services including short-term stays, assisted living, memory support and rehabilitation. Sonora at Splendido has been given the highest five-star rating by US News and World Report four years in a row.

The Pinnacle Awards are an annual tradition for the Chamber, whose history shows at least a decade in the making. Over 257 people were in attendance at the meeting and awards breakfast, held at the Hilton Tucson El Conquistador Golf and Tennis Resort.
